This car was parked for over 25 years which explains it's orginal 118K mileage. Most of the car is original equipment, but some 1969 pieces have been identified to include steering wheel, console plate, finned valve covers and hardtop. Body condition and improvements: Wiper door system removed, bushings and rivets replaced and new vacuum pod installed - works perfectly. Headlights pop up and down properly, but not always together. New Cordovan Maroon basecoat/clearcoat in 2010 with hardtop painted to match. One small body crack below RH louvers. Two small cracks in paint, but no chips. Original rear lenses, bumpers (surface rust), astro ventilation side glass, etc. New mirrors, antenna and wheel trim rimgs (original center caps). Some weatherstrip replaced, but still needs window felts and door sills. Original white soft top is intact, but needs new canvas (shrunk). Mechanical condition and improvements: Where possible I saved all original numbers matching parts. This is an original L79 numbers matching 327/350hp car, mucie 4 speed, 3.36:1 geared car. New Motor Mounts, Alternator, Battery, Wiper Motor, Voltage Regulator, PS Pump, belts, hoses, radiator (alum), full tune up to include plugs, wires and points, cap and condenser. Modern Holley 600 replacement on car (original stored). New Exhaust manifolds, 21/2" full exhaust (chambered/muffler delete) and new chrome tips. New BFG Radials, shocks front and rear, rear adjustable torsion rods and bushings. Car runs and drives very nicely. Front crossmember has some rot, but it's unique to 1968 and is a bolt in piece (non structural) and can be replaced for less than $250.00. New fuel tank, brake lines, rotors and calipers: Stops straight and true! Interior condition and improvements: Interior lights and door buzzer works, all gauges work except clock and recent speedometer malfunction. I replaced the Tach because its needle was broken. I replaced the speedometer face only as I wanted to retain the original odometer. Cable is currently disconnected. Aftermarket radio is in place and non functioning. Original untorn upholstery on seats. Incorrect cut pile carpeting installed. Console and door panels have some cracks but are serviceable. Fiber Optics in place but not connected as they did not mate properly to the 1969 console trim plate. Hurst Shifter. New boot not installed. Overall this is a valuable, fun and driveable piece of history and will make someone a very proud owner. That said, it's over 40 years old and for any of you who have not owned older corvettes; They require attention and frequent repair. There's always something to improve upon or repair: that's just the nature of corvettes. 118,000 miles. $17,900. March 27, 2012. |
